Reflection #1 Blood and Chocolate

Movies about werewolves these days seem to be all the same. We don’t see much originality or anything new in them. Most of these kinds of movies are about a beast that goes around the city killing people. But the movie “Blood and Chocolate” is the exception to this stereotype. There are many factors that make this true.

First it shows a very different point of view of what a werewolf is. The style that the director gave to these creatures makes them unique among others. They are peaceful creatures that can transform at will. Not like in other movies where they go around randomly killing people. Also when a werewolf transforms it doesn’t look like an ugly scary monster, instead it turns into a real, beautiful wolf. This is a detail that really called my attention in this movie.

Another thing that makes it very unique is the place where it takes place. It was filmed in Bucharest, Romania so in many scenes we can see the beauty of this place. The architecture, statues, cities, and many other aspects that make this place fit for this movie. The director filmed it there because wanted to work with real wolves which really live in Romania's woods, instead of using computer-generated wolf creatures.

Since the moment I saw this movie I started comparing it with the movie “night watch” because I had the same impression to both of them; the feeling that I wasn’t watching more of the same stuff, that instead I was watching great pieces of work even though they are both very different from each other.

These factors are what make the film a precious piece of art that is worth spending your time. You’ll get a great story, great graphics and effects and you’ll have a very good time.
